Lake of the Ozarks Famous St. Patrick's Day Celebration

If you find yourself in the Ozarks on the Lake of the Ozarks, you don't have to be Irish to celebrate on March 17th. You just have to get your green on, gather some friends, and get ready to have a good time. Take a look at how the Lake celebrates St. Patrick's Day:

There are always those that want to run, and city of Eldon is a place that always hosts those that want to run. Pretty much every holiday is marked by an early morning run. St. Patrick's Day is no exception in this health-conscious city.

You don't have to be an Ironman to complete this 5-mile course that goes through the city and is flat. Have your tennis shoes with you and join the cheerful crowds. If you are lucky on this day, you might even earn a medal.

The 5-mile Walk/Run starts at 7:30 am from the Public Safety Building. Registration fee is $20.

Bar crawl

Once the run is complete, it's time to do some bar crawling on the lake's west side. This event is taking place for the 8th time this year and even sports St. Pat's Short Bus Shuffle starting at 4 pm. If you choose to not use this shuttle, make sure you have a sober driver or stay at one the nearby lodges.

Every bar and stop will feature special drinks, menus, and various festivities. The shuttle costs $10; souvenir shirts are available to remember the event by.

If you love being on boats or love looking at boats, come to the Sunrise Beach and join the parade on water. This event opens the boating season even if the temperature is not that high yet. The parade features decorated boats and boat captains and starts at Captain Ron's at the 34.5 mile mark.

Be there at 10 am to receive a blessing and start your day on the water.

This St. Patrick's parade is a long standing tradition for this Lake Ozark City. There are two ways to participate in this fun event enter your own float or set your family up on the lawn by the road to see others. The main action takes place along Bagnell Dam Boulevard and it gets crowded, so set up early. Kids love all the candy they get from about a 100 floats that go by.

Another parade will be happening at the Shrine of St. Patrick's at 1 pm. All participants should join at noon. The parade will start at the church parking lot and go on Highway 5, through Laurie, and end at Laurie Care Center. Expect lots of Irish songs and green balloons.

Green golf links go perfectly well with St. Patrick's celebrations. Osage National Golf Resort is hosting its St. Patty's Day Open tournament every year, and every year it's a blast. It's held on March 18th, so you can enjoy all other events and come here to recover.

The event starts at 9 am and for $80 includes breakfast, 18 holes of golf, a cart, and a tee gift. Non-members are welcome.
